Is it just me or are most of Stuart’s photos not loading?

Chris all the ones on this page are Imgur hosted (bar the first one in today’s post that is hosted on my own website) so should be fine, the earlier pages were Photobucket so of course are ‘broken’

It would be handy to know which ones you cannot see…especially if they are today’s post

spyderman8 – Posted January 28, 2018

I could only see the first one.

Menoporsche – Posted January 28, 2018

Can see all from the recent ones, both on iPhone 8 and on MacBook.

Davidbf1.com – Posted January 28, 2018

Just found this could be a Vodafone issue, ongoing since 2016 and still not properly addressed.

Just changed my router’s DNS settings to Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and all of your images are now loading! Hope this also solved the problems I’ve been having with my iPhone!

I’ve used Google DNS servers from my home network for a few years now – I found BT servers had some reliability issues back then. Since I changed to Google I have not had any noticeable issues.

Gedo – Posted January 28, 2018

Consider using 9.9.9.9 rather than Google’s 8.8.8.8.

The Quad 9 initiative is backed by some big names in the security world and is a no brainer really – https://www.quad9.net/

Interesting. Just read a few reviews. I will change my dhcp server tomorrow and see how it fares.

Gedo – Posted January 29, 2018

We typically use Cisco Umbrella/OpenDNS to protect clients via DNS however this is a paid-for service with full management and reporting. For the others we use Quad 9 as it adds an extra layer of protection for free. I’d recommend everyone change their home router to this however some companies (BT and probably Sky) have decided in their wisdom not to allow home users to change their DNS settings (although this may have changed on their newer boxes). It can be changed manually on connected devices but this is a major PITA as most households have loads of WiFi devices. Making the change on the router lets DHCP take care of it and it can be a godsend if you have kids on the network…

spyderman8 – Posted January 29, 2018

Have now switched to 9.9.9.9 as primary and 8.8.8.8 as secondary. Can’t recall if the BT box I was using was changeable – I’ve actually still got it because they’ve not asked for it back!

Stuart21UK – Posted January 30, 2018

so you can now enjoy the pics on my ‘ownership’ thread then… 😉

STUART, the clue is in the name 😉

and that’s ok I do it too, just wanted to make sure it doesn’t run into multiple pages of numbers that mean nothing to the point of the thread… 🙂

UPDATE on Roof –

Porsche SIlverstone just called to say that Porsche Warranty (Head of, apparently) has come back to say they wont replace roof as ‘mis-alignment of drivers window happened after manufacture, otherwise it would have damaged the seam much earlier’…now they have not said as much, but I assume they are going down the ‘wear and tear not covered’ route…wear & tear is an acceptable argument maybe on brake pads or an item that is consumable, or outside damage like a crash or scrape….but this is a premium car that should be built in a manner such that after 4 and a bit years I shouldn’t expect the roof to be self destructing slowly, and if it does then their expensive warranty covers it…

Next step is to ask for goodwill from Porsche ‘Factory’ as the OPC said…so I got asked by OPC

* whether this was my only Porsche – no the 3rd from you

* where the 2nd (40k 4yr service) was done – to which I replied RPM as you couldn’t quote me properly! And it was done with genuine Porsche parts…and OPC told me ahead of this that this did not jeopardise the warranty (and she confirmed again, on the phone today)

So I pointed out the historic roof issues (rub marks that have been on the rear quarter, developing since new and reported to them in Sep 2014) and asked that they email me the Porsche Warranty response so I can reply to it, before they then go to ‘Factory’ for goodwill….From what she said if both Warranty and Factory fail then its off the Porsche GB Customer Service…

There is also of course the Financial Ombudsman that nay be interested given that the extended warranty is an insurance product….

Patt – Posted January 31, 2018

I feel your pain Stuart.

At least you can prove you’ve been complaining about the roof since the car was born. They must take that into consideration.

I assume there’s been no realignment of the window whilst in your ownership. And if there has presumably it was by an OPC. Perhaps you have a photo (or photos) amongst your collection of the car which happen to show the window/hood since new?

Good luck.

yeah but I looked through the thread I created in 2014 asking for other forum car info and it seems at least 50% had some type of scuff (albeit al lot were older cars than mine was at them time)

No known re-alignment in my possession by anyone…

…however I think I have some photos from 2013, 2014 proving the drivers window is aligned further backwards towards the roof on the drivers side than it should be (and compared to the passenger one)/ I need to look through various folders to find some evidence…

Stuart21UK – Posted February 1, 2018

I have a response from OPC regarding my roof:

Good Afternoon Mr Brown

Further to our conversation yesterday, I have looked further in to a goodwill offer from Porsche regarding your vehicle xxxxxxx requiring a replacement roof.

Porsche have offered £1265.09+vat towards the replacement.

Therefore the remaining outstanding balance for the replacement is £1546.21+vat. Please advise me if you would like to book the vehicle in for the repair.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me on xxxx.

Kind Regards…

Needless to say I have not accepted their kind offer as yet…instead I have asked for the reason why warranty are not covering it, which is what she should have been sending me yesterday….then I will push much harder for a warranty resolution..

mid-life – Posted February 1, 2018

Interesting Stuart, as the last poster said its moving in the right direction. The split they have worked out for the offer seems a bit odd but perhaps that’s how they do things!

Getting somewhere, you have opened the door, now keep your foot there!

Posted August 15, 2018

so long time coming but I have fought Porsche Warranty (and lost that battle) but won the ‘war’ with Porsche overall and after the above post in February went ‘forum’ quiet as I didnt want the danger of Porsche GB, Warranty or OPC finding reference to my side of the fight and it impacting on the outcome…also I was holding the option fo a Financial Ombudsman complaint in the background as a last resort…

As it turned out Porsche Warranty refused to cover the claim on the roof as in their opinion it was not something there from manufacture…not that I see the relevance of that either way, the fact is that the window caused due to roof alignment damage to the roof! It should have been a warranty claim without question.

Porsche GB were contacted by me directly after the OPC had attempted to push the claim further and I’d got to the ‘we’ll cover 45% of the total cost’..

They eventually came down to ‘we’ll cover it all but £850’ and when I pointed out that their ‘Customer loyalty gesture was very nice, but as there is a fault with the car I shouldnt be paying anything towards it let alone £850!’…eventually they agreed with me and as it turns out (and by my unverified understanding) basically they were covering some of the cost and the OPC were covering the lions share as a ‘customer loyalty goodwill gesture’!

The OPC told me that as the warranty claim had not been properly put in, Porsche GB were effectively penalising them and putting most of the cost onto them!

Seems unfair to me but the end result is a new roof (fabric part with window only plus some door strips and runder bits and pieces) without any outlay on my part at all:)

In talking through this with the OPC I was told as it was at no cost to me the roof and work would NOT be covered beyond the warranty period that was due to expire 18/9/2018, whereas if I paid absolutely anything towards the cost then I would get 2yrs parts and 1 yrs labour warranty on all fitted/replaced parts…so I told them I’d be paying £10 towards it all, to secure that warranty, which they seemed to accept!

Of course I am unlikely to renew a warranty on a car where its just failed to pay for a pretty major expense, and although it has covered the cost of replacement PSE, it also failed to pay out for a frayed seatbelt (due to it rubbing on something!?). Not exactly confidence inspiring at £660 for a year plus 111 point check and £1190 for 2 plus 111 point check..pity Porsche Warranty didnt think about the impending renewal before refusing the claim!

Anyway she’s back with me as of yesterday, all seems fine, I need to take some better pictures but there is now an even gap both sides of the car where the windows rest on the door rubbers (and neither side touches the roof seam).

Happy days…and as the OPC didnt pay the £2.50 Dart charge bringing the car back from the CHW in Sevenoaks (i had a penalty notice in the post waiting for me after getting back from holiday on the 13th…they waived the need for me to pay anything to get the 2 years guarantee on the roof too!

I now have a new roof on effectively a 5 year old car…no creases or mould, no rub marks…nothing!

:bana:

and with its stable mate

Now I wonder if I’ll get a single ‘nice car mate’ like I did in the white 2 litre 718?

Should do with PSE in full effect but I’ll bet I dont get one!

Ludacris – Posted August 15, 2018

‘Nice car, mate.’ Well, stunning, actually.

Glad you got it resolved, eventually.

Ringer250 – Posted August 15, 2018

Result at last!

Looks really good.?
