981…Waiting in anticipation – Running Report page 20

Stuart21UK – Posted October 20, 2018

last update…also pic heavy

Accident  !!!

I picked on of the girls up from a friends house earlier this lunchtime…whilst inside their home exchanging pleasantries with the father, the mother reversed out of their drive and hit the 981 in the passenger door…

Insurance details exchanged, I see being without the car for another 3 weeks whilst body work is done etc…last time (the tow bar incident) cost the person who hit me £8000 by all accounts, about £5500 of it being the cost of a Cayman S hire car..

inspecting the damage I noticed what looks like a rust bubble too (she’s 5 years old and it’s on the side of the car!?)

Ho Hum…

4 dents, broken wing mirror and some paint marks…

rowbos – Posted October 20, 2018

Bugger!

Hopefully all will be sorted soon Stuart.

How mortified was she?

At least when you get the hire car you might get some ‘nice car mate comments ?’.

Bloody hell – bad luck mate, I’d be mortified if it happened to mine…

red rocket – Posted October 20, 2018

Bummer! Really bad luck. At least there are no arguments over whose fault it was. 😮

I think that would be fair recompense for the damage she caused, certainly teach her to look behind more often.

She might prefer the insurance route!

Wifey commented earlier that I take anything car related in a surprisingly calm manner, which is totally against my general character (short tempered, no patience etc)

no I was in their house at the time she hit it!

Topbox – Posted October 20, 2018

Rough luck Stuart, hope you get it all sorted quick and easy .

Menoporsche – Posted October 20, 2018

I think you need to shorten the thread title to just “waiting” 🙁 It seems to be always going away for something!

Gutley – Posted October 20, 2018

That’s a BUGGER. A bit of a drastic way to realign the window though. Hope it gets sorted quickish for you. Better install some side dashcams too now.

Stuart21UK – Posted October 20, 2018

thx…bound to be a ball ache though, insurance company, replacement car company, other insurer telling me I should mitigate their loss (which will be interesting as we are both with Aviva as the underwriter), bodyshop taking 3 weeks to do the job and finally 6 months later its all over…just in time for me to see if its affected mine or the wife’s renewal premiums!

Oh and countless ‘we understand you’ve been involved in an accident’ calls.

especially as its the drivers side I have the issue with (STILL!)

Ringer250 – Posted October 21, 2018

Ouch, sorry to hear more woe, again not your fault! Hope it gets sorted quickly.

On the rust spot, maybe an inspection by the place doing the door repair. If it is original untouched paint then a possible claim against Porsche (you know you want to!). Even if not original paint then any repairs would have been done through OPC in the first place, so bad workmanship

Ringer250 – Posted October 21, 2018

Porsche have just rushed out a solution, given your latest predicament. This is the new fleet of loan cars.

don’t think they’d sell anything to me anymore Steve!

and TBH whilst I love the car and most things Porsche its really hard to keep the passion for the brand with…well you all know…

Understandable. Either accept the Stockholm Syndrome and stick with Porsche or jump ship, only to probably have a different set of cr4p to deal with.

Yikes – I can only imagine how that conversation went down between all of you.

I hope it gets resolved in a smooth manner.

Topbox – Posted October 21, 2018

You get those anyway Stuart, least I do ?

it gets boring winding them up with

‘Oh excellent I’m glad you called, it was a family outing in a coach and there are 32 of us that need your help…’

Patt – Posted October 22, 2018

My usual first response is “which one?” they generally hang up on me.

Bummer on the bump chap – don’t forget to remind the insurance company it needs ceramic coating afterwards

yes good call hadn’t thought of that Patt…thanks!

Patt – Posted October 22, 2018

I have my moments – few as they may be 😀

Stuart21UK – Posted October 25, 2018

So…car now booked in for repair on the 6th November…they want the car for an estimated 7 working days

In sorting that out they wanted me to drive a 50 mile round trip to them so they could assess the car…sending a number of pictures managed to get around that one…just had the booking confirmation email and they want me to clean the car before it goes to them…yeah right!

I’m also waiting for authority for a replacement Porsche as a hire car to be fully covered by the 3rd party (he fault claim not mine)…also firing off email to Porsche to try and get authority for Gtechniq re-application…(thanks Patt)

Isn’t that a reversing sensor in the dented part of the X-trail bumper? Clearly she has an issue with you?
