981…Waiting in anticipation – Running Report page 2

583 Smoking package. WTF???
Most Boxsters do this if you leave them for a few days 😉
Seriously though, what is it??? Don’t ell me, you now how to opt for a cigarette lighter and ashtray?!!

Stuart21UK – Posted September 4, 2013
Smoking package is an extra cigarette lighter socket (in) and more importantly a flap to neatly enclose the little cubby hole in the rear of the centre console…. No cost option and the cubby hole is too small for anything but a few pound coins so makes sense to be covered IMO

Does anyone know when/which boats are used for transport, it’s been at port almost a week now?

boxsternoob56, 666 is an interesting choice.

That’s hotline to The Beast!

Stuart21UK – Posted September 5, 2013
no bloody hotline to anything at the moment Chris…I think it’s on a summer break in the Alps without me!
Still not moved from Emden….apparently

Menoporsche – Posted September 5, 2013
I found a webcam pic, is it this one?

Stuart21UK – Posted September 5, 2013
nice try but they come on boats like this I believe….at least mine is 😉
If they hadn’t recruited the Nigerian Dragon Boat team for the trip….she might have actually got to me by now….
STILL SUPPOSEDLY IN EMDEN!

Stuart21UK – Posted September 6, 2013
point is I CANT track it as Porsche OPC can’t give me any data about boat at all….i.e. name, date expected in/out
They are just using their internal system which simply says when build is completed, generally where it is i.e. outgoing Port/incoming port etc…that’s it…..very un-Germanic if you ask me…

Stuart21UK – Posted September 8, 2013
Number Plate reg allocated (nondescript one from a limited list, allocated on mass to dealer)
Car still showing in Emden
getting tired of anticipation…now becoming an annoyance that with today’s technology the car is not properly trackable…

Stuart21UK – Posted September 9, 2013
Isysman….Roger that, but you know what I mean…
Update at 10am –
OUTEMD which means what it sounds like…either on a boat on route or in the UK already…
Looking on boat shipping it may have been dropped off by this badboy…
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shipdetails.aspx?mmsi=355051000&header=true
quite like the idea of VAG transport!!!
who knows though..if it is, then it’s already been dropped off…if not it’s another ship…I suspect the next thing I’ll hear is that it’s at the OPC and that could be either the next few days (they have 3 days to deliver to OPC from port) or another week if it’s a different ship…either way it’s a move forward !! :bana:
EDIT I just realised VAG transport must be VW Audi Group….fair chance then!
even more :guitar::bana::guitar:

1. Emden looks like it has a really famous opera house.
2. When I click on that link, it says “Destination SANTANDER”.
I hope for you that it stopped at Sheerness first…

Stuart21UK – Posted September 9, 2013
1. no interest in Opera…only the wonderful noise of a flat 6 (enhanced with PSE)
2.it’s a link to the boat which should have been and gone yesterday (if it’s the correct one)
3.So do i!

Stuart21UK – Posted September 12, 2013
are you ready?
not quite there yet…..
text today says…..(quite simply)
‘your car will arrive tomorrow’ (Friday the 13th! OMG)
my response back ‘can I pick it up Saturday?
blah blah probably a bit tight to guarantee (he’s not in dealership until Saturday to be fair)….’
my reply ‘what about Monday, I need to sort some stuff and need to allocate time in work diary?
as yet no response……it’s painful….I want my blinking new car!!!!

Ampaul – Posted September 13, 2013
How exciting, I’d be like a kid on Christmas Eve unable to sleep with itching feet!!!!!

Skidd – Posted September 13, 2013
I would go down today, just for a look :bye:

edowen – Posted September 13, 2013
Pick it up today you poof!

Stuart21UK – Posted September 13, 2013
4pm Monday sorted for pick up :bana: cant wait to part with some money to be honest!!!

Now I have the decison of whether to bother with one or the other form Porsche

Gap
Superguard or Swissvax
or to sort them out elsewhere….think I’m likley to do Gap but source online, literally a fifth of the original price quoted by OPC (who have since halved the cost if I take it with them)..

Can you kind forum members give me opinions/knowledge etc upon the specifics and whether it’s worth taking Gap and/or Superguard/Swissvax (whether it be via OPC or elsewhere)…..I’m particularly not sure about how worthwile the super/swiss is…surely its just a 3m protection/normal detail?

Thanks in anticipation 😀

spyderman8 – Posted September 13, 2013
I’d recommend something along the lines of Supaguard but I reckon its only worth having on the front PU and bonnet – just not from the OPC.
I’d also go for GAP insurance through a third-party – especially if you have a bunch of options (who doesn’t?).
Chris.

SFO – Posted September 13, 2013
I had G Techniq applied to bodywork and wheels. Amazing. Supposed to last years, but mine has only been on only for 3 months, but it’s very easy to clean and insects etc all fall off when driving in the rain.

davidv111 – Posted September 13, 2013
Have a look at ala gap insurance – been really good for me – also use code GAP12 to get 10% off 🙂
avoid the dealer doing to the paint protection – get hold of a local detailer and use them – i see your in south bucks – there is a really good detailing company in northampton just cant remember their name

Stuart21UK – Posted September 13, 2013
I’m in Beds/Bucks border…

Sean
what is the G Techniq stuff….I googled but appears to be a line of normal car cleaning products?

Try http://www.dooka.co.uk/
Rob from Dooka and Simon Baker (Baker21 on Detailing World) have detailed my then 2 year old Skoda Superb as soon as I got it. They did an amazing job in transforming the finish. Also Simon detailed my then new Octavia VRS in March 2010
Having learnt a bit about polishing and paint finishes I will probably do my new Boxster myself now I have Meguiars G220 orbital machine polisher.
I certainly would not bother with the finishing packages a dealer sells

it’s ceramic coating or something .. best applied by professionals as otherwise it’s a mess. I had GTechniq C1 applied on the bodywork, G1 on glass and C5 on the wheels.
I have used L1 on my porcelain CLS leather interior, and it has worked a treat.
