981…Waiting in anticipation – Running Report page 21

Stuart21UK – Posted November 13, 2018

so a couple of updates…

Winter wheels put on the car a week or so ago (guaranteeing you all a mild winter!) helped by my eldest (after grumbling that I dragged her away from Fortnite

and then I dropped of the 981S and picked up a 718S as a loan car whilst the bodywork is attended to by Elite Northampton…I should get the car back late this week (otherwise you’ll see a 718 on the Weston brekkie run)

Patt – Posted November 14, 2018

Slave driver ! 😀

Are your winters the same 20″ rim as your summers ?

Hope you remembered to advise the bodyshop about your ceramic coating – in case they need to blend panels.

So update re Porsche Warranty complaint to the UK Financial Ombudsman……I’ve heard back and after 4 months (that is Porsche giving the original adjudicator the run around, then the adjudicator leaving the FOS service) they’ve decided they dont have jurisdiction over a Porsche Warranty sold in the UK, by UK OPC, on behalf of Porsche GB because its underwritten by a German insurance company!

Apparently I now have to go to Germany and make a complaint against Allianz, then pursue via the German equivalent of the ombudsman..

Considering my next move at present….

Stuart21UK – Posted December 11, 2018

on the plus, the car is looking sweet..

Gtechniq re-applied

r1flyguy – Posted December 11, 2018

fek! That sucks

So for any conpany to get around this and see if a buyer will just give up chasing their tail, all they need to do is have a policy underwritten by a company based in another country! What a pain in the ar*e

no wonder all these insurance companies are based in India :laugh:

on the plus side, your car still looks stunning

fat haggis – Posted December 11, 2018

Yes the car looks great. I love those wheels big time. 😍

and of course to add insult to injury I’m one of the people helping fund the FOS service with the professional fees I pay!

I dont want to bog down my ‘owners thread’ with anything other than the car details/experience but that’s partly why I voted out, sick of BS European standards affecting what I have to adhere to here in the UK.

That’s quite concerning….My old 2.7 used to be insured by someone underwritten in Malta. I wonder if I had to claim or had issue I would have had to go and use Maltese claims/ombudsman processes

Like the photo Stuart…..it has encouraged me to go and find my camera and start to use it rather than the one on my phone!

I’d have got a picture ten times better with the Canon 6D…the one above was with the Samsung S8

Yep…made me realise I need to start taking ‘proper’ pics again!

Stuart21UK – Posted December 23, 2018

oh I do like a bit of Gtechniq…

clean, post Gtechniq the other week and a nice bit of dawn dampness

the water just slides off the windscreen at 40 mph + too, no windscreen wipers required…

🙂

Stuart21UK – Posted December 30, 2018

Little grumbling update….

went out in the car earlier and put the roof down, wacked the interior climate control up to max whilst putting the heated seats on max too…

‘oh ffs there’s nothing coming out of the dash vents’

it seems my fan has gone again….this was replaced under warranty a year or 2/3 ago….

Stuart21UK – Posted January 10, 2019

Interior fan on my 981 fixed by RPM Technik…

Apparently the fix for a non working cabin fan is to

* get access to the fan itself

* turn on the ignition

* tun the air con so the fan should be running

* manually crank the fan until it starts to spin

* run the fan/car for 10 mins

* switch off, that’s it!

Porsche have provided this update as opposed to originally recommending replacing the fan itself!

Quality….

i had this mate its-an easy diy fix even i can do ….. open box with polen filter .make sure ignition is OFF put hand down and-feel the fan blades move with finger and thats it …. just like the fix you got done but its an easy diy fix

Scubaregs – Posted January 11, 2019

Yep, OPC did this on my 718, knew exactly what I meant when I explained the problem.

^ Exactly this. I had the same issue on mine. Make sure the ignition is OFF and make sure before you turn the ignition OFF you have the fan seed set to a speed above “OFF” otherwise the access to the fan is blocked

Are you sure you hadn’t just got one of the blue or black connecting rods in the wrong place. 🤣

I am presently dreaming up new places for connecting rods. Involving you and Dynajets rods.😈

Stuart21UK – Posted January 11, 2019

so can someone educate me where the pollen filter is without me having to google it?

is it under the dash inside or more likely under the plastic shroud under the frunk?
